posted a news link on our Facebook page from Forbes.com Why Stay-At-Home Moms Should
Earn A $115,000 Salary. The story explained how much stay at home moms should make if you calculate the
various duties and responsibilities they have.
The
purpose of the story was to put a number on the modern stay at home mom’s day-to-day deliverables. As
you may be aware, the
Working Mom vs. Stay At Home Mom (SAHM)
debate has been widely publicized recently, but we didn’t anticipate that
sharing the link to the Forbes story would start a spirited debate between our
working mom and stay at
home mom Facebook fans.
It was a “Hot Button” and a few dads left comments
as well.
I’ve personally lived both sides of the issue and found that being
a parent is never easy; you take the bad
with the good and do your best in raising your child/children. I have one five
year old son and can say without a doubt, mothering or being a good parent is the most
challenging and rewarding part of my life. So, why am I pushing the “Hot
Button” again? Because our special day is coming up, Mother’s Day, and it is the
one day I have no guilt or problem asking for help and taking a little time for
myself. Of course, I do plan something with my husband and son but I love
sneaking away for “Me Time”. I think all Moms everywhere deserve “Me Time” a
little more often.
This Sunday, let’s make a promise to each other as mothers: kick
the guilt trips and do something special for ourselves (or a fellow mom!) once
a week for the entire year. Whether it be, reading on a sunny park bench for an
hour, seeing friends for lunch or coffee, or dropping the laundry off to be
washed and folded (I really like that one).
Make this Mother’s Day a day to declare, “A happy mommy
makes a happy home”.

I plan to treat myself to a bath without interruptions... wish me luck!
I will treat my wife with one of her favorite activities, sitting by the fire pit with glass of chardonnay in hand, without my annoying husband related questions.
Being a mom is a tough, yet rewarding job and we all deserve the support and appreciation from our loved ones. Nothing makes you feel better than a simple thank you and an I love you. Hope all the moms have a wonderful mothers day celebrating their mother's and being celebrated themselves. :)
Getting "me" time once in a while makes the time when we're back with our kids so much more precious! Happy mother's day to everyone out there!
I will be with my daughter's, the reason that I am a mother, and my husband......spending the day together!!!! We are all healthy and happy, you can't ask for any more than that!!!!!
I would love some occasional "me" time - to get a pedicure or even an haircut a couple times a year! Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mom's!
I think the occasional "me time" helps me be a better mother. I enjoy the time I spend with my kids, but I think a "time out" for me helps me enjoy it even more!
Today I treated myself to a Mother's Day pedicure and told myself not to feel guilty about the time or cost. The rest of the day was spent with family and every moment of it was fantastic!
I planned to (and did) Do an urban photo shoot with my 3 kids
I am planning a girls night - which is something I haven't done since having my daughter 8 months ago.
We celebrated mother's day with the kids- we went to Lego Land and had a cook-out! I wouldn't have it any other way- it is my kids that make me mom!
I am so thankful to be a SAHM and also have my own business as a fitness instructor and life coach. LOVE and support that “A happy mommy makes a happy home”. Hopeful that ALL mommy's are not just pampered on Mother's Day, but EVERY day for the job they do. If not, take the time to pamper YOURSELF :)
Had a tea party/gathering with my girl friends to share stories with what's going with our lives. Feels great afterward and thankful for this 'me time'.
Spent the day with my family at the Houston Food Truck Fest. Lots of fun!
Great post! A happy mommy means a happy baby.
